1. What got you
into cosplay?
I've always liked anime and video games. It wasn't until a few year
ago that I found out there were conventions for these things. ::gasp!::
It was the summer of 2001 when someone told me about a con happening
downtown. I figured, what the heck! I arrived at Otakon and was floored
to see allllll these people and many of the dressed up as their favorite
character. I decided that the next time there was a convention, I would
go to it and dress up. One of my customers at work told me about Katsucon
and I made plans to go for one day. I made myself a Summoner Yuna costume.
It was the game I was playing at the time and I loved the character
and design. Who would have thought that there would be SO many Yunas.
^^;; But yah, the costume was aweful. I remade it a few times and went
to other cons. It's still one of my faves to wear. Ever since then,
I've been hooked.
2. How do you choose who you will cosplay?
I tend to pick characters I relate to or choose a design from the series
I like. Sometimes for skits I end up being a character that I would
have never cosplayed (ex- a tree or Mayuri from Bleach). I've also been
looking at designs and saying "ooooooh pretty!" and not knowing
a dag on thing about the character or series. ^^;; I try to do my best
on at least knowing something about them after picking a design.
3. How has cosplay affected your life?
I wouldn't have met all the friends that I have now or have the chance
to meet new people. I've also been able to learn more about sewing and
wig styling. It's so creative.
4. What keeps you busy outside of conventions?
Work. Sleep. Video games. Sewing. Internet... you know... running this
site and my own costume site. lol I also take Kabuki dance and Irish
dance lessons.
5. Do you see yourself continuing to cosplay
5 years or 10 years from now?
Absolutely. Every year I think I'm going to run out of ideas and I never
do. I LOVE sewing and sewing for others.
6. What is your dream costume?
Hmmmm.... It was Trainer Yuna... I made that. Then it was Rith.... I
made that. Right now it's Imfyy from Ninety Nine Nights. Armor. O.o
7. What is your favorite costume you've done
and why?
I have a lot. I love Trainer Yuna, Artbook Miaka, Rith, Jessica, Summoner
Yuna... I suppose many of my costumes are my faves
because I learn somethign from each one as a grow. I can look back and
smile on them and remember all the craziness that went into making them.
Plus, all the fun of wearing them!!
8. Is there any advice you can give for our
visitors?
Practice Practice Practice. Remember, as cliche' as is sounds, Winning
isn't everything. Do your best and have fun. Having fun is what is important.
Once it's not fun, it's time to take a step back and breathe. Oh, and
one more thing.... YES COSPLAYERS CAN MARRY PEOPLE WHO DON'T COSPLAY
OR GO TO CONS!!! : )
9. What is the hardest part about cosplaying?
Fighting procrastination. I try to do my best by making sure I work
on something at least 1 hour a day. I love procrastinating. ^^;;
10. Who would win in a battle to the death?
The King (Burger King) or Ronald McDonald? Why?
The King, of course. He's my hero and one day I shall cosplay him. One
day......
